Job scam & safety tips

Before you apply

Check the employer name, original vacancy source, application destination and closing date. Use contact details independently found on the employer’s own website when a message looks suspicious.

Protect your information

Do not pay an unknown person for access to a CareerLink vacancy. Avoid sending passwords, one-time codes, bank details or identity documents through unsolicited messages. Understand why a document is requested and who receives it.

Warning signs

Be cautious with guaranteed employment, urgent payment demands, requests to transfer money to individuals, impersonated company domains and vague roles with unrealistic earnings. A published listing or user review is not proof of legitimacy.

Report a concern

Use the Report a job form with the exact vacancy URL and what you observed. CareerLink reviews reports; contact the relevant authority directly for emergencies or suspected crime.
